Who is Jesus Christ?
How is it possible for me to describe someone who is so glorious He is beyond words? He (Jesus) is so glorious that He’s truly indescribable. His name alone is matchless, His name alone makes every demon in hell tremble with fear, His name alone when called upon for salvation will bring about the salvation of your very souls, His name alone has unfathomable power that no creature can ever truly understand. No one word can ever truly describe this sinless and perfect one called Jesus Christ. But I will share with you some essential key facts of what you should know about this person called Jesus Christ.
One may ask who is Jesus Christ? And why do I need him?
Answer: The word Jesus means Savior. The word Christ means the anointed one of God. Therefore this means Jesus is the one and only Savior of the world, the anointed and chosen one of God who was sent by God the Father himself to redeem mankind by his death on the cross for them and by his glorious victorious bodily resurrection from the dead.
God the Son (Jesus Christ) is the one whom God sent into the world to save mankind from the penalty of their sins. He is the sinner’s Savior. He is the only Savior, and He (Jesus) is the Savior of the world. He (Jesus) is the Messiah. God became a man in the person of Jesus Christ to redeem us and to save us from the penalty our sins. You need him because He is your only hope of you ever being forgiven of your sins and being saved by God the Father. (John 3:16-18) (John 4:42) (1 John 4:14) (John 20:31) (Philippians 2:6-8) (John 1:14).
“Jesus did (that is He already completed successfully over 2,000 years ago) what you and I could never do, which was to live a holy perfect sinless life that pleases God at all times. And here’s the key point of Scripture that you need to grasp, He (Jesus) did that for us on our behalf! Jesus was sinless and he died for us sinners on the cross to reconcile us to God. Jesus died on the cross, and on that cross, he took our righteous punishment that we righteously deserved for our sins. “When you sinned, you deserved to be punished instantly and eternally by God himself for your sins. But God graciously did not punish you instantly and eternally as your sins righteously deserved, rather He (God) reserved your punishment and poured it upon Jesus (His own Son) instead of punishing you. Jesus was your substitute. And he willingly took the full wrath of God upon himself for your sins that you righteously deserved. Jesus took your punishment by God himself on the cross for you all because he loves you. So it’s like this ”Every time you lied, God punished Jesus on that cross for your lie, every time you lusted for a man or for a woman that was not your married partner God punished Jesus on that cross for your lust, every time you disobeyed your parents God punished Jesus on that cross for your disobedience etc. Every sin you have committed, Jesus has taken your sins punishment in full at the cross. Why would Jesus who is sinless and perfect take your punishment? Why would Jesus who is innocent and holy, one who has never sinned take the place on a cross for guilty sinners? The answer is Jesus loves you more than you can ever fathom. Simply put, Jesus would rather die an agonizing death on a cross for you and take your punishment from God the Father than to see you perish in hell for an eternity. “That is what Jesus was doing on that cross; Jesus was not on the cross paying the penalty for his own sins and crimes, No, for He was sinless. He (Jesus) was taking the punishment for our sins that we righteously deserved (Isaiah 53:4-12) (Romans 3:19-30) (Galatians 3:5-26).
The good news is that Jesus Christ (who is the Son of God) died for all of your sins on the cross, and already took your punishment for them in full from God the Father, in so that you won't have to when you meet the Lord God on judgment day! Isn’t that amazing? Isn’t that Good News? Most importantly he (Jesus) conquered death because he physically (bodily) arose from his grave! His physical (bodily) resurrection from the dead meant he defeated death and Only God himself could defeat death! And he defeated death for you as well! His physical (bodily) resurrection from the dead further proved without a shadow of a doubt that he was the Son of God whom God himself has sent into the world to be our one and only Savior and redeemer. The result of Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross for you and I is amazing and it is this “Your now free from God’s punishment for your sins and thus your also free from God’s condemnation not because there is none, but all because Jesus your substitute and Savior has already took your punishment for your sins in full from God the Father on that cross at Calvary.
